A $4,000 parrot was stolen from a Lewiston business at 415 22nd St. The bird, a female yellow nape parrot, is named Arabea and has a varied vocabulary. According to a Lewiston Police Department report, the parrot was secured in its cage with a wire tie when it was taken.

A family-owned and operated bagel factory featuring more than 30 types of freshly baked bagels and several flavors of cream cheeses has opened in Moscow. The Northwest Bagel Factory opened Aug. 4. The business is a franchise and the seventh store of The Northwest Bagel Factory Inc., based in Bellingham, Wash.

KOOSKIA - The temporary employees of the Lochsa District of the Clearwater National Forest are leaving summer jobs after a highly productive season, Ranger Jon B. Bledsoe said. About 65 were employed by the U.S. Forest Service for summer work and about 35 were available from other federal government programs to provide employment.
