Lacey Jones, 18, of Asotin, wouldn't go anywhere without taking her Chance. Nor would Jones, one of this nation's budding young rodeo stars, be without the services of Emmy. As things turn out, Chance and Emmy as well as Lefty and Betsy happen to be the four horses she has used to achieve a moderate degree of success in past rodeo events at the national as well as local level, placing second overall in the recent National High School Rodeo Finals in Pueblo, Colo.

Matt Meacham of Lapwai is remodeling the new Meacham Mills retail store in the former Morgan Bros. & Co. wholesale building at 1305 Main St. in Lewiston. The new store, selling gourmet foods and bulk grains, will open in late August with more than 3,000 square feet of space.

Seven Lewiston area youngsters took a summer off from loafing this year to work as members of the Youth Conservation Corps at Hells Gate State Park. It was the first experience in bringing home a paycheck in a program designed to teach good working habits.

WASHINGTON - The Senate Interior Committee has approved legislation for a study on including the Nee-Me-Poo Trail in northern Idaho in the National Trails System. Sens. Frank Church and James McClure of Idaho were joined by senators from Oregon, Montana and Wyoming in introducing the legislation. The bill has been supported by the Appaloosa Horse Club, Moscow.
