The assumptions that accompany the words "alternative school" will probably follow Lewiston's alternative high school to its new home at the old Tammany school - that students are
trouble-makers, slackers, or simpletons. Misconceptions did not keep 40 students from finishing up their summer school session, just a few days after relocating from their previous home behind school district offices on 12th Street to accommodate a growing number of students.

TROY - LeRoy Carlson, a Troy orchardist, had some good news and some bad news. Carlson won the Republican nomination for Latah County commissioner from District 3, but while the votes were being tabulated, a storm wiped out Carlson's 4,000-tree apple crop.

Damage to crops caused by rain and hail storms that swept through Asotin, Latah and Nez Perce counties may run into the millions of dollars and property and road damage will boost that figure even higher, officials reported. The Dry Gulch area of Clarkston Heights was declared a disaster area by Asotin County commissioners following a flash flood that swept down Evans Road, killing one man and damaging several ranches and homes.
