Virginia C. Shaffer, 28, 538 14th St., No. 1, Clarkston, pleaded innocent to first-degree theft by welfare fraud. Trial set for Oct. 6.

Brent A. Glass, 21, address unknown, pleaded innocent to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (marijuana). Trial set for Sept. 17.

William J.B. Grimoldby, 47, 406 Sixth St., Clarkston, pleaded innocent to third-degree assault. Trial set for Sept.27.

Judy Ann Wyant, 35, 14 Sycamore St., Clarkston, pleaded innocent to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Timothy W. Torrez, 23, 1205 Billups, Clarkston, sentenced to six months in jail for third-degree assault. He was accused of striking Cheyenne Redwoman in the face with a baseball bat, shovel or num chuk. Torrez was ordered to pay $80 restitution to Redwoman and $450 for use of the public defender, and was ordered to get anger management and drug evaluations and comply with recommended treatment. The judge also ordered Torrez be placed on 12 months' community supervision.

Terrie L. Smith, 48, Pullman, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 32 hours of community service for unlawful issuance of a bank check. She was accused of writing a bad check to Betty M. Vantrease. Smith was ordered to make $850 restitution to VanTrease and to pay $450 for the use of the public defender.

Michael Denis Nibbelin, 29, Clarkston, driving while intoxicated, fined $750 with $250 suspended, sentenced to 10 days in jail, suspended, driver's license suspended for 90 days, placed on 90 days' probation, ordered to attend court alcohol school and to pay $50.20 restitution to the city of Lewiston. Ramona L. Munson, 21, Kellogg, Idaho, driving while intoxicated, fined $1,000, sentenced to 60 days in jail with 50 days suspended, driver's license suspended for six months, ordered to get substance abuse counseling and to submit to tests for drug and alcohol use.

Crime Reports

Katherine Kelly, 1202 Maple St., Clarkston, reported the theft of a CD player worth $150 from her home.

Jim Maxwell reported the theft of a stereo valued at $450 from his vehicle while it was parked at 604 Bridge St. in Clarkston.

Nez Perce County Sheriff's deputies called to a report of an accident on Tammany Road at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday found a wrecked car abandoned with the keys inside.

Larry Reeves of Clarkston, the owner of the 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport was contacted, and he told officers he'd left the car at a friend's house on Lindsey Creek Road at Lewiston while out of town. The car received substantial damage when it apparently went into a ditch. The department is investigating.

The Lewiston Police Department arrested two juvenile males Tuesday night after they allegedly broke a car window at the Wal-Mart store and stole a purse from inside the car. The crime was reported sometime bewteen 8 and 9 p.m., said an officer from the LPD. The two boys, and the purse, were found by police near the 900 block of Vista Drive. The boys were charged with burglary. Contents of the purse were unknown Tuesday night.
