The Latah County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a form circulating via mail asking people to financially support bulletproof vests for police.

The form, which is labeled “2024 Potlatch Area Fund Drive To Protect America’s Police,” is not being sent by the Latah County Sheriff’s Office. The funds will not go to the county, the sheriff’s office says.

The county purchases its own vests for deputies.

“Please do not send money to this form for the Latah County Sheriff’s Office,” the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says.
