SEATTLE - A teen convicted of manslaughter in the 2008 beating death of a Seattle street musician known as the Tuba Man has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of second-degree robbery.

Prosecutors alleged the 16-year-old stole a wallet and music player from another teen last January.

The boy entered his plea Thursday.

A spokesman for the King County prosecutor's office, Dan Donohoe, said if the teen is convicted, the prosecutor's office will recommend an exceptional sentence of more than nine months in juvenile detention.

The boy spent nine months in custody for his part in the fatal attack on Edward McMichael, who was known for playing his tuba outside sports arenas.
