PULLMAN - Capital improvement projects and council salaries highlight Tuesday's Pullman City Council meeting agenda.
The council will consider three major contract awards, including a $106,000 bid to replace an aging bike path along Stadium Way; a $408,000 project to expand the engine bay and add a new vehicle access route at Fire Station No. 2; and a $655,000 project (paid for mostly with grant funds) to add a traffic light at Bishop Boulevard and
Klemgard Avenue.
City Supervisor Mark Workman is also recommending that councilors consider raising council salaries from $300 a month to between $400 and $600 per month.
This item is on the agenda for discussion purposes only. If the council did decide to raise the salary of councilors, it wouldn't take effect until the end of each councilor's current term.
Council salaries were first raised to $300 per month in 1997. They increased to $400 in 2007 and stayed there until 2009, when the council voted 4-3 to drop the salary back to $300 per month.
The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Pullman City Hall, 325 S.E. Paradise St.
