Work on two highways in Whitman County was scheduled to begin Tuesday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is chip-sealing roads in eastern Washington.

Crews are repairing about 44 miles of Washington State Route 23 between Steptoe and Sprague, along with around 21 miles of Washington State Route 194 between Pullman and Almota, according to a news release from the department.

Multiple state routes in Spokane, Lincoln and Pend Oreille counties will also be receiving work, according to the news release.

Motorists can expect delays and reduced speeds through work zones. Flaggers will be directing intermittent single-lane closures and alternating one-way traffic, according to the news release.
