Inland Northwest Partners, a regional nonprofit economic development organization, recently honored Uniontown and two regional businessmen for their efforts to improve the area's economy.

Uniontown received the Community Award, given to communities that implement successful recruitment, retention and development strategies that have a positive effect on their local economy.

Uniontown's Community Development Association has been able to attract several new businesses through its efforts to renovate buildings and expand sidewalks and rebuild the town park.

Orofino businessman Paul Pippenger received Inland Northwest Partners' Hometown Hero Award, which recognizes individuals who play key roles in local economic development efforts.

Pippenger owns a number of commercial properties in the Orofino area, including the Best Western Lodge at River's Edge, the community business park, retirement facility, recreational vehicle park and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare building.

McGregor Company President Alex McGregor received the Hall of Fame Award, given to individuals or entities that provide substantial support to economic development efforts throughout the Pacific Northwest.

McGregor Co. is the largest independent fertilizer, ag-chemical and farm equipment dealer in the region.
