The coroner's office said Merlin Boyer, 46, died of blunt force trauma in the crash Sunday afternoon.

The Montana Highway Patrol said Boyer's motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve on Blue Creek Road about 12 miles south of Billings. The bike landed in the grass and Boyer was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
