BOISE Idaho is joining 32 other states in urging the Food and Drug Administration to require warning labels and special packaging for iron supplements.
Attorney General Larry EchoHawk said Wednesday iron supplements are the leading cause of pediatric poisoning deaths. ''Although commonly perceived as harmless nutrients, iron supplements pose a grave risk to young children who ingest them,'' he said.
The tablets usually have a sweet coating and look like candy to children, EchoHawk said.
