This may be a good weekend to head to a regional event as weather in surrounding areas may be worth the cost of gas.

Weekend temperatures in the valley are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s with sunny skies. The outlying areas will be a bit cooler with highs expected to be in the 70s and 80s.

Today and SaturdayNEZPERCE - The annual Nezperce Prairie Days will start at 5 tonight with a silent auction fundraiser. There will be a barbecue dinner at 6 and a live auction at 7 all at Lions Park.

Saturday will begin with breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Legion Hall and a fun run/walk at 8 a.m. starting at the tennis court. Other activities include a kiddie parade at 10:45 a.m. and the Prairie Day Parade at 11 a.m.

A street dance featuring the band The Kingpins will be from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday on Main Street.

Saturday

WINCHESTER - A centennial celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Winchester Lake State Park.

Planned events include a ranger's nature hike for kids at 11 a.m., canoe outings for families at 3 p.m., and refreshments and birthday cake served in the park.

POTLATCH - The fourth annual speeders event will take place Saturday. Public rides will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to Princeton or Kennedy Ford on one of the track cars. Rides are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. There will be a silent auction for special rides from Potlatch to Moscow on Sunday.

Also Saturday, there will be Bluegrass at the Boxcar featuring two bands, the Junior Jammers and the Two Dollar Bills. Refreshments and lunch will be available. There will be a barbecue Saturday night; cost is $8 for adults and $6 for age 12 and younger.

STITES - Stites Days will get started with the second annual Ryan Johnson Memorial Run at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Also Saturday will be the Main Street parade at 11 a.m., and live music and a jam session on Main Street at 1 p.m. There will also be a barbecue in the park, kid's carnival, vendors, historical photo display, quilt and craft show, and more.

Sunday will start with community church services at City Park, followed by a no-host covered-dish lunch at 11 a.m.

PALOUSE - An ice cream and pie social fundraiser will be from noon to 5 p.m. at Palouse City Park.

There will also be live music performed by local musicians. Money raised during the event will benefit the community center.

PEOLA - The annual Peola Pioneer Picnic will begin at noon Sunday at Big Springs Campground near here. The summer picnic will include music by "The Old Time Fiddlers," and is a covered-dish dinner.
