There are plenty of festivals and summer weather to accompany them this weekend. Temperatures are expected to follow a cooling trend from the high 90s today to the mid-80s by Sunday with a chance of thunderstorms each evening. Expect lows to fall to the low 50s overnight.

TODAY

MOSCOW - The Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute will hold a Pubbin' on the Patio from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at the PECI Nature Center, 1040 Rodeo Drive, Moscow. The event is a family-friendly, no-host gathering and will feature Palouse Caboose, One World Cafe and live music.

PIERCE - Three days of fun are slated for Pierce 1860 Days, which begins at noon today when the J. Howard Bradbury Memorial Logging Museum opens. Berry and cherry pies dropped off between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. at the Pierce Community Center will be judged at 5 p.m. The kick-off and dinner begins at 4:30 p.m. at the community center with live music at the dinner and Rough Kutt slated for 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Timber Inn. Events begin Saturday with sign up for the ATV Trailriders fun run at 8:30 a.m. at the kiosk and sign up for the softball tournament at 9 a.m. at the ball field. A concert is set for 10:30 a.m. to noon on the main stage and the parade begins at noon on Main Street. The 1860 Days auction and the fire department open house both begin at 1 p.m., followed by a duck derby at 2 p.m. Other events include a Dutch oven cook-off, kids' games, ping pong drop, bucket brigade competition and a play "Stealing the Capital" at 4 p.m. at the community center. The 7 Devils round out the evening with a concert and street dance from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. The celebration wraps up Sunday with a softball tournament at the ball field at 8 a.m. and a Prospector's Church at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Fellowship. Contests and games for children and adults are slated for 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the park.

ASOTIN - The Asotin and Garfield county health districts celebrate a woman's decision to breast-feed at 10 a.m. today at Chief Looking Glass Park in Asotin. The 2016 Big Latch On event encourages the general public and women with breast-feeding children to take part in the national event in support, promotion and celebration of breast-feeding. SATURDAY

DIXIE - The 105th annual old-time Dixie Days Celebration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with a bake sale and photo contest at the Dixie Community Center. Family games as well as food and beverage vendors open at 11 a.m. and a horseshoe tournament, duck derby, tug-o-war and softball tournament are slated at the city park. Bingo begins at 2 p.m. at the community center and live music starts at 4 p.m. Participants are asked to provide their own beverages and chairs. The celebration continues Sunday with a benefit breakfast for $5 and the winners of the raffle will be announced at 11 a.m.

MOSCOW - Curing Wendigo presents Concert For Compassion from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at East City Park here. The concert is free and includes musical acts Dionysus and the Revelry, Mother Yeti, Samdelic Bluegrass, Dan Maher and others. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and a raffle is also slated for the event. Proceeds from the concert will go toward funding a clean water project at a refugee camp in Tanzania.

DEARY - The Deary Friendship Days starts off with a Firemen's Breakfast from 6 to 9 a.m., a book sale at 9 a.m. and a parade at 10 a.m. on Second Avenue featuring military veterans. A volleyball tournament, kids' games, show and shine and a quilt show and raffle all begin at 11 a.m. A barbecue fundraiser for youth football begins at 11 a.m. at the junior/senior high school. Lunch will be served at the park at 11:30 a.m. A Lumberjack Jack and Jill competition is set for 1 p.m. in the community center parking lot and live music fills the air at the city park. A street dance rounds out the evening from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, with music by Burning Wheel. An all-church service is set for 10 a.m. Sunday at the White Pine Alliance Club.

POTLATCH - The Potlatch Riverside Country Music Festival will mark its first year with four bands beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ponderosa Park in Potlatch. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 15 and free for those 5 and younger. Attendees should plan on parking in town and bringing chairs and blankets. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand for the concert, which includes Beargrass, Shiloh, Blue Highway, and The Hankers.

KOOSKIA - The 63rd annual Kooskia Days begins with an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the International Order of Odd Fellows Hall on Main Street. Registration for the fun run begins at 7 a.m. at Umpqua Bank and at 8 a.m. for the three-on-three basketball tournament at Clearwater Valley Elementary School. The kiddie carnival begins at 10 a.m., and the Kooskia Days Parade marches down Main Street at 11 a.m. Registration for the show-and-shine is also set for 11 a.m. at the city park with the Tahoe Quick Response Unit auction beginning at noon. A variety show will be staged from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Outpost for a cost of $5, with food and beverage available for purchase at the event. The Awana derby car races are set for 3 p.m. at city hall, and live music, a beer garden and street dance are slated for 8 p.m. to midnight on Main Street. Church in the park will be presented by Life Center Church at 10 a.m. Sunday at the city park.

SUNDAY

COTTONWOOD - The 24th annual Raspberry Festival kicks off with a pancake breakfast for a cost of $5 at the museum from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday at the Monastery of St. Gertrude, 465 Keuterville Road, Cottonwood. Registration for the 8 a.m. fun run/walk begins at 7 a.m. at the museum. Live music by various artists will be performed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the car show begins at 10 a.m. Lunch will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the menu includes hamburgers, barbecue beef sandwiches, raspberry shortcake and raspberry lemonade. Other events during the day include a kids' carnival, arts and crafts fair, art show, vintage sale and exhibits.
