The cold snap has settled in, so this might be the time to break out a scarf and wool socks. Temperatures won't rise much above 20 degrees throughout the weekend and will drop to single digits. Bundle up and head out to some of the many events happening in our area.

TODAY

PIERCE - The Pierce GEM Team presents the Festival of Trees from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Pierce Community Center, with a live auction featuring Christmas decorations such as wreaths, garlands and centerpieces. Proceeds for the event go to various community projects in Pierce.

KAMIAH - The annual Christmas Light Parade begins at 6 p.m. today in Kamiah, with a children's flashlight serpentine parade and lighted float parade. Santa will be on hand at the Chamber Welcome Center afterward, and the Kamiah Parent Teacher Organization will sell treats, chili and hot drinks throughout the evening. There will also be a silent auction at the Central Idaho Insurance Agency, 419 Main St.

OROFINO - The Orofino Community Choir will present its annual Christmas Gift of Music concert at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 466 Brown Ave., Orofino. The choir will perform both sacred and secular music. Admission is free, though an offering will be taken to support scholarships, community needs and music costs. A reception follows the concert in the Little Flower Room.

SATURDAY

POTLATCH - St. Mary's Church will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rebekah Hall on Pine Street in Potlatch. The event will offer food, crafts, gifts and a raffle.

GRANGEVILLE - The 28th annual Gift and Food Fair will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Grangeville Elementary School multi-purpose room. The event lasts until 4 p.m. and will offer such diverse items as emu products, flowers and cribbage boards. Homemade sweets and lunch items will be served all day.

OROFINO - The Patchwork Bazaar and Craft Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Orofino High School, 300 Dunlap Road. Santa will be present for pictures from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Boy Scouts will sell Christmas trees and Friends of the Library will offer used books for sale. A donation barrel will be available for participants to donate food items for the local food bank.

The Associated Students of Lewis-Clark State College will hold the school's annual Christmas Fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Activity Center on campus. Admission is free and concessions and a Christmas tree drawing will be available. Photos with Santa are $5 or free with five nonperishable food items.

The Hells Canyon Boat Club will host its Christmas Craft Baked Food Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Post Lane and State Route 129 in Clarkston. The event will feature raffles as well as food and craft vendors.

A Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lewiston Southway boat ramp on Snake River Avenue. The five known Pearl Harbor survivors from the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, the last of whom died this year, will be honored with a posthumous two-bell ceremony. Retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Chuck Whitman will serve as master of ceremonies.

Lewiston-Clarkston Valley youth will compete in a robot LEGO challenge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic School, 641 Fifth Ave., Lewiston. The challenge uses LEGO robot sets to solve real-world problems.

The Clarkston Lighted Christmas Parade begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Sixth Street downtown with the theme "Visions of Sugarplums." The Clarkston Lions Club will light the Christmas Star on the hill in time for the parade.

SPALDING - The 17th annual Beadwork Bazaar starts Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nez Perce National Historical Park visitor center on U.S. Highway 95 here. Traditional Nez Perce beadwork, including leggings, bags and other items, will be available for purchase from area artisans.

MOSCOW - Palouse Cares starts its one-day food drive at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, and asks volunteers to organize at the following locations: Eastside Marketplace, Moscow; Zeppoz and Mr Z's Casino, Pullman; Rosauers, Colfax; McLeod's Palouse Market, Palouse; Harvest Foods, Potlatch; the Garfield Grange; and Colton School for the Colton/Uniontown area. Volunteers from Troy, Deary and Bovill are asked to meet at the Old Deary Fire Station, and Kendrick and Juliaetta volunteers should meet at the community center. There will be live and silent auctions starting at 11 a.m. at the Moscow, Pullman, and Colfax locations.

PULLMAN - Pullman's Kiwanis Club will host a pancake breakfast with ham, scrambled eggs, fruit and beverages from 6:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lincoln Middle School, 315 S.E. Crestview St., Pullman. There will also be music and a silent auction. All proceeds will go to support the Pullman Child Welfare food bank and work with the city to fund construction at New Mary's Park. Tickets are $6 and $3 for children ages 3 to 12.

PULLMAN - The Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony starts at 4 p.m. Saturday with the Jingle Bell Fun Run starting at the YMCA at 195 N.E. Spring St. Pine Street Plaza will be the finish line for the run. Live music, activities and warm beverages at the plaza round out the fun, culminating with a Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m.

PALOUSE - The Palouse Round Table Club will host a Christmas craft sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Palouse Community Center. A quilt, gift basket and $100 gift certificate will be raffled off. Lunch will be served at noon, and pie and coffee will be served all day. Proceeds from the event go to Palouse-Garfield High School seniors and community projects.

PALOUSE - The Bank Left Gallery in Palouse will offer a Christmas luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday titled "Elixir of the Holidays." The gallery is located at 100 S. Bridge St.
