DEARY - A Moscow man who reportedly was shot in the buttocks by his hunting partner near Deary has been discharged from Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Latah County Sheriff Richie Skiles said Charles Wilson, 66, was hunting for elk near Mica Mountain on Monday morning when his hunting partner - a Potlatch man - thought he was firing at an elk, but shot Wilson with a .50-caliber muzzleloader.

Skiles said an investigation determined the shooting was accidental.

After the shooting, Wilson was taken to Gritman Medical Center and later taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where surgery was required to remove the projectile.
