Claude Earl Gephart was born May 26, 1937, and died March 10, 2013, peacefully at his home in Troy. Claude Earl was preceded in death by his father, Claude W. Gephart and his mother, Edna A.C. Gephart (Haylund), as well as his half-brother, William A. Gephart. He did not have any siblings and never married. He is survived by three aunts, many cousins and their children.
Claude Earl was a veteran and served from 1960-1966 in the U.S. Army. From there, he went on to work for Pacific Northwest Bell and was a retired communications worker. He was also an emergency medical technician for his community before he retired. Claude Earl took great pride in farming his parents' homestead in Troy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and excelled in trap shooting at the local gun club.
A graveside service will be held for Claude Earl at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dry Creek Cemetery near Troy, with the Rev. Randall Nicolai of the Troy Lutheran Church officiating.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception after the ceremony in Troy at the Lions Club Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Claude Earl's name to the Troy Ambulance Service or Hospice, c/o Gritman Medical Center Foundation, 700 Main St., Moscow, ID 83843.
