Delbert R. Hendren, 77, of Kooskia passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Spokane.
He was born Aug. 24, 1930 at Kidder Ridge to Elbert and Stella Hendren.
Delbert married Shirley Newland on June 27, 1953, at Asotin.
His working years included packing for the Forest Service, farming, logging, caretaking at the White Water Ranch on the Salmon River, and building fence.
He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved hunting, fishing and camping. But more than anything he loved spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; a sister, Margie Stadtman of Hamer, Idaho; brothers Jack and Dale, both of Kooskia; three sons, Dewain and wife Linda of Dalton, Idaho, Scott and wife Kristi of Grangeville, and Delvin and wife Brooke of Post Falls, Idaho; three daughters, Debbie Howard and husband Gerry, and Diane Fitting and husband Ron, all of Stites, and Sharon Owens and husband Bob of Kamiah; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Kenneth, Ivan, Floyd, Tom, Bob, Ben, and his twin, Gilbert.
At his request there will not be a funeral, but a covered-dish dinner will take place in his honor at 1 p.m. Saturday at the IOOF Hall in Kooskia.
