Dora May Miller, 88, of Garfield, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Ladow Court Assisted Living in Garfield. She was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Potlatch to Nels and Nancy Opstrup.
After graduating from Potlatch High School in 1943, Dora worked in Bremerton, Wash., until her marriage to Gerald Miller on March 20, 1945, in Spokane after which she resided in the Garfield area until her death.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garfield, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the DuoDeckum Bridge Club. Dora loved crafts, particularly tole painting, crossword puzzles, cooking, entertaining family and friends and decorating her home for holidays.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Gerald of Garfield; daughter Judith (Rich) Olson of Garfield; son James (Sandra) Miller of Falls Church, Va.; five grandsons, Andrew (Stacie) Olson of Garfield, Jeffery Olson of Pasvik, Norway, Matthew (Allison) Miller of Alexandria, Va., Jon (Jonelle) Olson of Garfield, and Adam (Amber) Miller of Phoenix; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, William, of Everett, Wash., and sister Donna (Alan) Wride of Garfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at the Garfield Christian Church in Garfield, followed by a family burial service at the Oakesdale Cemetery in Oakesdale. The Rev. King Rockhill will be officiating.
