Gertrude Ann Taylor passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016. She was born on June 13, 1921, in Uniontown, to George and Katherine Weber.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Scharbach; her second husband, Harold Taylor; siblings Nadine Weber, Edward Weber, Betty Jo Weber, Harold Weber; five children, Judy Grovdahl, Douglas Taylor, Valerie Governable, Gary Scharbach and Ken Scharbach. Surviving her are her siblings, LeRoy Weber, Esther Frei and Eileen Meshisnek; five children, Richard Taylor, David Taylor, Katherine Frantz, Donald Taylor and Judi Marie Taylor; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who had great regard for her. Gertrude Ann resided in Clarkston for the last five years with her sister, Esther Frei, but had lived in Mesa, Ariz., prior to that. She has also resided in Spokane and Pullman.
Ann was a hairdresser by trade but the role that was most important to her was being a mother and homemaker. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life and kept her optimistic and filled with purpose throughout her long and fulfilling life. Although she had much adversity and tragedy during her life, she faced it all with courage, faith and determination. All those who survive her will miss her humor and her wisdom, which she dispensed without judgment or rancor.
A Mass in celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 917 Chestnut St., Clarkston.
