Glenna Rose Heminger, 50, a longtime Kooskia area resident and office manager, died of cancer Thursday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

She was born Sept. 5, 1943, to George and Cressie New Robinett at Grangeville. She grew up on the Selway River and attended Pete King Grade School near Lowell. She graduated from Clearwater Valley High School at Kooskia in 1961.

After graduation, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service in the Lochsa District of the Clearwater National Forest at Kooskia as a clerk.

She married Allen (Buck) Heminger Aug. 13, 1966. The couple lived at White Bird for one year before moving to Chiloquin, Ore., where she continued to work for the Forest Service. It was during this time that she became the first female log scaler in Oregon.

The family moved back to Grangeville in 1973 and to the Kamiah-Kooskia area in 1974.

She was the office manager of Clearwater Forest Industries Mill at Kooskia for the last 20 years, since Bob Krogh purchased the mill. She also worked for Krogh at the Ida-Pine Mill at Grangeville. She later became a lumber broker. She worked at CFI until illness forced her retirement.

She enjoyed cake decorating, gardening, ceramics, crocheting, outdoor activities including fishing, camping, and travel.

She is survived by her husband at their home near Kooskia; one son, Stacy Heminger of Boise; her mother, Cressie Robinett of Kooskia; four brothers, Leo Robinett of Stites, Phil Robinett of Bypro, Ky., Dallas Robinett of White Bird and Jerry Robinett of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Peggy Orr of Wenatchee and Cindy Dahler of Kooskia; two stepdaughters, Tracie Collins of Darby, Mont., and Cindy Miller of The Dalles, Ore.; a stepson, Cliff Heminger of Vancouver, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trenary Funeral Home Chapel at Kooskia. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery at Kooskia.
