Helen Dole Muscat, 91, a lifelong resident of the Lewiston-Clarkston area, passed away March 13, 2012, at Life Care Center in Lewiston, with her family by her side.
She was born in 1920 in Lewiston to Ernest and Helen (Thomas) Dole. Helen graduated from Lewiston High School and continued her education at the Lewis-Clark Normal School, from which she graduated in 1940. Helen and Joseph F. Muscat were married Dec. 28, 1940, and made their home in the Lewiston Orchards. She worked at Potlatch Forests Inc., Montgomery Ward, Inland Motor Freight, and for many years at the Nez Perce County Courthouse until her retirement in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1971; her parents; and three brothers, Ernest Jr., Sanford and Fredric Dole. She is survived by her niece, Carolee Dole Hadley; grandnephews and nieces, Troy and Roger Dole, Tracey Hanna, Donna Casteel, Chris, Jon and Tim Hadley; great-grandnieces and nephews, Zach and Roxanne Dole, Misty Dole-Heintz, Preston and Parker Casteel, Luke and Christopher Hadley; and a great-great-grandniece, Angel Heintz.
At her request, no service will be conducted. Memorial gifts may be made to Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter or Nez Perce County Historical Society.
