Howard N. Turner, 89, passed away Nov. 3, 2011, at Powell Valley Memory Care in Gresham, Ore.
Howard was born March 30, 1922, to Charles E. and Esther A. Peterson Turner at Lewiston. He attended school in Clarkston and graduated from Clarkston High School in 1940. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He married Barbra Westfall. The marriage later ended in divorce. Howard and Marge Mattila were married in 1957 and had two children, Steve and Julie.
From an early age Howard enjoyed working on cars and anything mechanical. He was employed by Mixer Mobile, Wagner Equipment and retired from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1987. He also had a lawn mower, chain saw, and small tool repair business.
He is survived by his son, Steve Turner; daughter Julie Lewis; grandson Joshua Edman; granddaughters, Sarah Edman and Alaena Stahl and husband James; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge Turner; parents, Charles and Esther Turner; sister, Georgia Edwards; brothers, Glen Turner and Harlan (Toad) Turner.
There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Monday at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Oregon.
