Jacquelyn Dube passed away July 31, 2013. Jackie was born July 29, 1932, to Charlotte and John Dempsey in New York City. Following the death of her parents and grandmother, she traveled by train as a young girl to Montana to live with relatives. In 1951, she married Ivan Konen and had three children. Jackie went to nursing school and later became a registered medical technologist. After her divorce from Ivan, she worked at various hospitals throughout Montana, raising her children.
She married Robert Dunn in 1970 and moved to Lewiston. In Lewiston, she worked at Pathologists' Regional Laboratory until she retired in 1995. Together, she and Bob ran the Hilltop Cafe. Jackie was famous for her strawberry-rhubarb pies. She also followed her goal to earn a business degree at Lewis-Clark State College at this time. Her marriage to Bob ended in divorce. In 1998, Jackie reconnected with the brother of a best friend from nursing school and married Paul Dube in 1999. They lived in Bellevue, Wash., until his death in 2000, after which she returned to live in Lapwai. Jackie enjoyed various passions throughout her life. She shared with her children her love of music, pets, fishing, camping and playing games. She later became interested in ceramics and opened a ceramic shop in the Orchards. Jackie shared her talent with many others, teaching classes and assisting anyone working in the shop. Her ceramic villages and nativity scenes decorate her children and grandchildren's homes at Christmas. Jackie's American Indian and wildlife pieces were extraordinary. She shared her love for playing cards with her grandchildren and friends at Juniper Meadows.
Jackie is survived by her children, Karen Werner of Lewiston, Kelly Konen and his wife Renee of Lapwai, and Sandee Rodgers and her husband Tom of Clarkston. She leaves grandsons Thomas Rodgers, Cody and Levon Konen; and granddaughters Jamie Larsen and Jennie Werner. In addition, she leaves eight great-grandchildren, Stewart, Simoane, Skyelar and Savanna Rodgers, Triston and Kyra Konen, Leighton Larsen and Izzaha Werner. The family suggests memorials be sent to Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter.
