James Lee Leslie Sr. was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Rolla, N.D., and died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, after a long illness at Life Care Center of Lewiston.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War. Unknown to his family, he received a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, along with other miscellaneous commendations.
He worked in car sales, banking and insurance sales, and was also a volunteer for the Nez Perce County Mounted Sheriff's Posse. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and helping others. He also enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dona C. Leslie; father Lyle M. Leslie; sister Virginia C. Feucht; son James L. Leslie Jr.; and daughter Donna F. Leslie.
He is survived by daughters Eva L. Dahl and Rita L. Leslie; son Steven L. Leslie; sister Kathleen Portlock; brothers Lyle H. Leslie, Edward Leslie and Eugene Leslie.
