LENORE Marion Roscoe Smith, a retired gravel truck driver, died of congestive heart failure Friday at his home in Lenore. He was 69.

He had lived at Lenore since moving there to retire 17 years ago.

He was born Jan. 14, 1924, at Bozeman, Mont., to Owen F. and Vida M. King Smith.

He grew up at Bozeman, and attended schools at nearby Belgrade.

He entered the U.S. Army at Bozeman in 1943, and was discharged from Camp Cook, Calif., later that year.

He married Dorothy A. Smith May 24, 1949, at Bozeman.

For several years the couple lived in Montana, where he worked as a long-haul truck driver and a farm truck driver until moving to Lenore.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 73 at Bozeman, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife at Lenore; two daughters, Trudy De Meerleer of Moscow and Sherri Stanart of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Juanita Eckardt of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A brother, Harold Smith, died previously.

Cremation has taken place, and no services are scheduled.

Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston is handling the arrangements.
