Mary Ellen Myers passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Mary was born Oct. 10, 1940, to Jay Henry and Eleanor Koppers in Elgin, Ill. She moved to Southern California as a child and married Robert Myers on July 14, 1961. After college, she worked as an emergency room nurse, later a dental assistant, and a loving, caring mother to her two sons, Jay and Kevin.
Mary was a breast cancer survivor and a dedicated nursing guild volunteer at Placentia-Linda Community Hospital for many years until she and Robert moved to Lewiston in 2003. They enjoyed traveling together in retirement until she became afflicted with Alzheimer's in 2010 and required assistance.
She is survived by her husband and sons.
Although Alzheimer's affected her memory and other abilities seriously enough to interfere with her daily life, it did not cripple her love, hope, faith, friendships, courage, spirit or soul. We all love you very much Mom.
A memorial gathering and celebration is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the event barn at Guardian Angel Homes in Lewiston. All family, friends and caregivers are welcome.
