Robert (Bob) Nelson Loper was born March 26, 1935, and died March 14, 2013, peacefully in his sleep at Life Care Center in Lewiston.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Loper; his mother, Aura Loper (Skelton); and his sister, Debbie Baune. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Jan) Loper; stepchildren Cami and Kevin Fox; brother Bill Loper and wife Jody; his children, Tami, Ken, Derrick and Kelly Owens from a previous marriage to Carol Davenport (deceased); stepchildren Sandy Botier and Terry, Lee Vogel from a marriage to Millie Mosher (deceased); grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Bob always took pride in the fact he set a record as a long-distance runner in Springfield High School, Springfield, Ore. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.
Bob worked at Potlatch Corp. in Lewiston for 41 years, leaving as a pipefitter in 1994.
He enjoyed several hobbies: belonging to the Crankers Club, traveling, and through the years building houses and a cabin, going to his shop, working on old cars, making vehicles into street rods and rat rods, and spending time at the cabin near Anatone. He loved his pets: a Yorkie, Wendy, and a cat, Mustachio.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. April 6 at the Clarkston Eagles Lodge, 505 Maple St.
