Roland Weissenfels passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Sycamore Glen in Clarkston. Roland was born Dec. 20, 1913, on Weissenfels Ridge in Anatone, to William Weissenfels and Barbara Kiesecker. He attended school in Anatone through the eighth grade.
He and Eleanor Mattes were married June 23, 1937, and made their home on the farm on Weissenfels Ridge for a few years. They then moved to Alpowa Creek and lived there until 1983, when they moved to the Clarkston Heights.
Roland was a member of Abundant Life Church in Clarkston.
Surviving Roland are his son Dale Weissenfels, daughter Sharon Jones, and brother Ira Weissenfels, all of Clarkston; and brother Ken Weissenfels of Richland, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Barbara Weissenfels; wife, Eleanor Weissenfels; son, Richard Weissenfels; sisters, Anna Enyeart, Stella McEvers and Agnes Stember; and brother, Fred Weissenfels.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston with Rev. Brett Stedman of Abundant Life Church officiating. Burial will follow at Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston.
