Wanda Mae Brown of Kendrick died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at her home in Kendrick. She was 57.
Wanda was born May 22, 1959, in Garberville, Calif., to David and Donna Deeds Hamilton. When she was a young girl, the family relocated to Kendrick, and she attended local schools. Wanda met Daniel Brown at a Sadie Hawkins dance at the Kendrick High School and the couple was married on Oct. 9, 1976. For most of her working years, Wanda was a stay-at-home mom, raising her children and all her grandchildren.
Wanda loved completing puzzles and seemed to always be working on a new one. She enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, mushroom hunting in the spring, tending her garden, watching the hummingbirds or just going for a drive through the country, she always felt at peace outside. When she was inside, she could often be found cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, David Eugene Hamilton; sisters Linda Ann Tipler and Paula Jean Arnett; brother Earl Wayne Hamilton; grandson Dominic Daniel Brown; and brother-in-law Peter Leras. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Daniel Brown, at their Kendrick home; sons Daniel Jr. and Samuel Llyod; stepdaughter Shondell Marie Murillo; sisters Teresa Leras, Pam (Brad) Dammerman and Brenda (Mark) Allen; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Short's Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Wild Rose Cemetery, with a celebration of life and covered-dish dinner at 11 a.m. at the Deary Community Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Wanda be sent to Kootenai Clinic Cancer Services, 700 Ironwood Drive, Suite 130, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.
