Details please

Speaking firstly as an American and as a retired military member, I am confused as to why you chose not to reveal more details/information on the "flag desecration" case being sought by Prosecutor [Nikki] Cannon in Minidoka County [editorial, July 3].

Why would you say that a teacher (Mr. Luker) at Minico High School, located in the state of Idaho, "taught English as a second language"? Second to what? Your personal taste in language? Why is the English language "secondary" in an American high school?

You elaborated to some extent on the desecration the Mexican flag received at Minico High School, but failed to describe details regarding the desecration of the American flag, only to say, "So did Luker, who showed similar respect for a U.S. flag in an administrator's office." "Similar respect": If you're trying to defend Mr. Luker, this is no way to start a defense in my opinion.

In reference to the Supreme Court's ruling in 1989, "essentially nullifying," what does this mean? Either it's nullified or it isn't. What is the correct answer?

My personal belief is that it is wrong and disrespectful to desecrate any country's flag. But since we're in America, on the eve of July 4th, let's focus on our flag. The flag that countless men and women fought and died for. The one draped over coffins of heroes I was honored to know and fight with.

Both teachers should be reprimanded at the very least. As the law stands today in the state of Idaho, desecration of the U.S. flag is unlawful. If the prosecutor of Minidoka County wishes to proceed, that is her decision afforded to her from the people of Minidoka County. Not from Nez Perce, Boise, Bonneville, Ada or any other county, and especially not Washington, D.C. ...

Giddy-up

Many of us would be prettier if our skin were darker! Maybe then we could learn more easily that the only thing that matters finally is the color of our blood. Every person has the same color blood as Jesus Christ has. That color is red! To him there are no skin color destination differences, nor nationalities.

God warns us that we are all destined for eternal life either in heaven or in hell. Those who even now have the assurance of heaven will suddenly ascend at the soon Rapture, as this world of unbelievers in Jesus Christ see greater trouble whirling worldwide.

Until we ask for God's forgiveness and have asked Jesus into our hearts, there is no other way to heaven. The Raptured believers will have seven wonderful years with Jesus in heaven while worldwide events worsen. Time is very short for the unbelievers' decision making. After seven years with all believers who have preceeded the Raptured, we will follow Jesus back to earth and to the New Jerusalem with streets of gold! All on white horses!

You are the only one who can make this choice for you! Wake up and giddy up!

Precious pans

Were you camping at Boulder Creek Campground near Helmer over the Fourth of July weekend? If so, I believe you could be a great help to my wife and me.

We were camping in campsite 1 on Thursday night, but decided to change campsites on Friday afternoon to be closer to my parents. In our attempt to move quickly, we left part of a large cast iron turkey cooker, which is not a great concern. What is upsetting to my wife is the two cast iron frying pans which were left on or near the picnic table in campsite 1. These held a special place in my wife's heart as they were given to her by her grandfather before he passed away a year ago.

We spoke with a group near the campsite who said they witnessed someone in a gold minivan taking them from the campsite. We certainly do not hold any blame, as they remained in an empty campsite for 24 hours before we realized they were missing. However, if you could find it in your heart to return these very precious items, we would be forever in your debt.
