Who is Jamie Burton (letter, April l4)? Obviously, he is neither a professor or student, nor a practitioner of logical thinking. First he criticizes Mike Petrusky for writing letters in opposition to Bush's war in Iraq. He then defends the war by citing what a bad dude the late unlamented Saddam was. Next he criticizes Washington State University for employing Petrusky (note, this is the same WSU which affords employment to Michael Costello). Then, in a flash of Orwellian insight reminiscent of "Dr. Strangelove," he claims that peace is impossible without war. Finally he again berates Petrusky, this time for not doing enough to bring about peace.

If Burton believes so strongly in the necessity of the continuing war of occupation, why is he sitting here in Lewiston writing letters instead of over in Iraq fighting the "bad guys"?
