Holy Family Church

sets groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Holy Family Catholic Church meeting hall is being held in Clarkston.

The ceremony is at noon Sunday at the church, 817 Chestnut St., Clarkston. The $900,000 project was initiated with the completion of the church's columbarium, which is now in place.

The Rev. Richard Root will bless the land during the ceremony, and four parish members will break the ground for the new parish meeting hall. The project is expected to be completed at the end of this year.

Kessinger named as

new bishop for ward

Michael Thor Kessinger of Lewiston is a new bishop for the Lewiston Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kessinger was born in Orofino and served for a few years at a mission in Milan, Italy. He went to North Idaho College, Wabash College and the University of Idaho College of Law. He is currently an attorney at Goicoechea Law Offices.

The two counselors who serve with Kessinger are Scot Burrup, first counselor, and Martin Gibbs, second counselor.

Lenten concert set at

Pataha Flour Mill

POMEROY - The Pataha Flour Mill will present a special Lenten concert on Palm Sunday.

The event is at 3 p.m. March 24 at the mill. It will feature Mark Newman of Clarkston, a baritone and organist, and Jon Van Vogt of Pomeroy, a tenor and pianist. During the concert, a free-will offering will be taken to help with preservation of the mill. The mill is about three miles east of Pomeroy.

Lewiston church

offers free ham dinner

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is offering a free ham dinner for the community.

The dinner is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the church, 3707 14th St., Lewiston.
