Swimming Vandals ranked 25th The University of Idaho swimming and diving team finished the 2012-13 season ranked 25th in the annual Mid-Major Division I poll. Harvard leads the poll, followed by Princeton second and Miami (Ohio) third.
"It is great for this program to be recognized as one of the best mid-major teams in the country," Idaho coach Mark Sowa said.
men's basketball Bolte, Champoux honored Lewis-Clark State senior forward P.J. Bolte was named a third-team All-American on Wednesday by the NAIA national office, marking the first time since 2008 that a member of the Warrior program was honored among the best in the nation. Junior guard Jacob Champoux was selected as an honorable mention pick.
"I'm happy for both of those guys. They had great seasons and deserve this type of recognition," L-C coach Brandon Rinta said. "I think their recognition is reflective of the success the program has had and the improvement we've made, and I think there could have been multiple guys who could have easily garnered this type of individual recognition."
Coming off the bench, Bolte led the Warriors with 17.2 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Champoux averaged 12.5 points per game and finished the season as the nation's top 3-point shooter, shooting 53.2 percent (50-for-94) from beyond the arc.
The pair helped lead the Warriors to a 26-6 record and a Frontier Conference title.
"It just goes back to the success of our program as a whole," Rinta said. "You have to have good players, and P.J. and Jacob have been very dedicated to what we're trying to build here at Lewis-Clark State."
Women's basketball Kane earns honorable mention recognition Lewis-Clark State College senior guard Annie Kane received honorable mention honors to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women's Basketball All-America Team on Wednesday.
Kane, a product of Lapwai, Idaho, earned the national recognition after averaging a team-leading 14.3 points and 2.5 assists per game in her final collegiate campaign.
"We couldn't be happier for her," L-C coach Brian Orr said. "Certainly one of the biggest bright spots of the season was the play of Annie Kane. The fact that for three years she was a role player for us makes this honor even more noteworthy."
After averaging 14 minutes per game as a junior, Kane played 34 minutes per contest in 2012-13, and scored a league-high 16.8 points per game against Frontier Conference opponents. She was also named a first team all-conference member and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete earlier this month.
