Warriors nab four weekly honors

Lewis-Clark State received four weekly honors spanning three different sports, it was announced Monday.

Bryden Brown was selected as men’s golfer of the week, Carter Gordon as men’s track and field athlete of the week, Drake George as baseball pitcher of the week and Brandon Cabrera as overall baseball player of the week.

Brown won his third straight individual tournament title with rounds of 69, 68 and 72 for a 7-under total of 209 at the Warrior Invitational before gaining his fourth weekly honor of the season.

Gordon ran the second-fastest time in program history in the men’s 800-meter run this season with a mark of 1 minute, 50.62 seconds at the Cougar Classic on Saturday to set himself up for a second weekly honor this season.

George went the distance in his start against British Columbia on Friday, becoming the first Warrior to pitch a full nine innings since Trent Sellers in 2022. He struck out nine batters and let up just one walk. This is the second weekly honor in a row for George and his third of the season.

Cabrera hit .500 (9-for-18) during the four-game series against British Columbia this past weekend. He had a double and two home runs to total six RBI, and didn’t commit an error in eight chances from his spot in right field. This represents the first weekly honor of his career.
