PHOENIX — Cole Cramer batted 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and four total RBI to power visiting Washington State, which surged ahead with a three-run sixth inning en route to a 6-4 nonconference baseball victory over Grand Canyon on Wednesday in Phoenix.

Joey Kramer and Nate Swarts had another two hits apiece for the Cougs (18-17), who went through nine total pitchers in as many innings. Rylan Haider was credited with the win from the mound, while Duke Brotherton closed things out for the save.

Vandals sixth in Big Sky tourney

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. — Emma Kang tied for 13th among individuals to lead Idaho to a sixth-place team finish in the Big Sky championships at Wigwam Golf Club.

Lauren Greeny, a Pullman High alum golfing for Montana State, was tied with Kang at 217 strokes apiece.

Warriors in contention

NEW ORLEANS — The Lewis-Clark State women held steady at No. 18 as a team and had four athletes ranked in the top 10 of their events as the latest edition of the USTFCCCA Ratings Index was released on Wednesday.

Kea Stieglitz ranks No. 3 in the NAIA in javelin (42.30 meters) and earned 28.44 points in the index. Madigan Kelly bettered her time in the 100-meter hurdles (13.87 seconds) and ranks fifth for 24.18 points. Sydnie Zywina is fifth in the triple jump (11.97 meters) with 23.73 points, while Jennah Carpenter is ninth in the high jump (1.68).

The women’s 400 and 1,600 relay teams both rank in the top 15 of the NAIA so far this season, and combined for 20.22 points.

Trace Green pitched a complete game for the host Bantams against the Highlanders of Spokane as they built an early lead and held off a late Shadle Park rally to complete a 2A Greater Spokane League win.

Two hits, including a two-run double from Hayden Line, were essential to the victory for Clarkston (5-8, 3-3).

Pullman (8-3, 6-1) got its only extra-base hit of the day in the form of a double from Kris Schroeder. The host Eagles (5-7, 5-4) enjoyed three hits, including a double from Brody Hart.
