MOSCOW — Surviving an epic battle in the nightcap, the Logos Knights of Moscow earned back-to-back Whitepine League Division I victories to rule the day in a home tri-match volleyball event with Prairie of Cottonwood and Potlatch.

The Knights prevailed 25-7, 25-14, 25-21 over Prairie, then came through with a final scoreline of 25-13, 21-25, 25-19, 25-27, 15-13 against the Loggers. In the other contest of the tri-match, Potlatch scored a 25-11, 25-22, 25-12 victory to break even and leave the Pirates winless.

Evie Grauke totaled 29 kills on the day for Logos (7-7, 6-5), while Liz Meyer amassed 50 assists. Potlatch (4-6, 3-6) benefited from a 20-for-21 serving performance with seven assists and four kills from Emma Patten en route to victory over Prairie (3-5, 3-5).

Greyhounds mark territory

PULLMAN — Host Pullman handled North Central of Spokane 25-19, 25-16, 25-11 in nonleague action.

Sophie Armstrong finished with 12 kills for the victorious Hounds (3-2), while Gabby Oliver offered up 29 assists and Lily McNannay had 12 digs and four aces.

Huskies come in from the cold

CRAIGMONT — Highland of Craigmont rallied from two sets down to score its first win of the season, topping Nezperce 27-29, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-7.

The host Huskies (1-8, 1-5) served 88 percent as a team and benefited from 14 kills by Eryn Thomas.

“They needed this,” Highland coach Kaleigh Poxleitner said. “It was a good night — they played well. They brought it.”

Bantams bounce Buckaroos

Hayley Barnea served six straight points with two aces to pull the third set out of the fire en route to a 25-20, 15-25, 26-24, 25-17 victory for Clarkston against visiting Pendleton (Ore.).

The Bantams (2-6) had trailed 24-20 with a two-sets-to-one lead hanging in the balance. Barnea totaled six aces and 15 assists for the match, while teammate Olivia Gustafson put down 21 kills.

JV — Pendleton def. Clarkston 2-1.

Trojans tackle Bulldogs

GENESEE — The Troy Trojans continued their march through the Whitepine League Division I with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-23 victory over Genesee.

Dericka Morgan piled up 20 kills and served 12-for-13 with two aces for Troy (12-1, 7-0), which also enjoyed 14 kills and a 15-for-16 serving performance from Jolee Ecklund.

Pirates down Dayton

POMEROY — In Southeast 1B League action, Pomeroy rolled to a convincing 25-14, 25-11, 25-14 victory over visiting Dayton.

Taylor Gilbert added nine kills and six aces for the Pirates (2-3, 2-2), who were also buoyed by 12 assists and two aces from Haven Kimble.

“I was really proud of our serve-receive and our defense and how well we did in rallies tonight,” Pomeroy coach Adam Van Vogt said.

Vikings turn back Bengals

COEUR D’ALENE — Lewiston fell in straight sets to 5A Inland Empire League opponent Coeur d’Alene.

The set scores were 25-20, 25-15, 25-22.

Sophie Canner had seven digs for the Bengals (9-7, 0-4). Reese DeGroot pitched in nine kills and two aces.

Hawks elude Bears

MOSCOW — Host Moscow fell in four sets to 4A Inland Empire League rival Lakeland of Rathdrum.

The set scores were 25-14, 19-25, 25-10, 25-21.

Ali Dorigo notched five aces and nine assists for the Bears. Millie Richards added seven digs and served 100 percent for Moscow (6-8, 3-2).

Maniacs felled by Lumberjacks

OROFINO — The host Maniacs had the edge early, but ultimately fell to St. Maries in 2A Central Idaho League competition.

The scoreline read 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22 in favor of the Lumberjacks.

Rilee Diffin provided 18 digs, eight kills and three aces in the losing effort for Orofino (4-3, 1-3), and Mylie Zenner added 12 kills.

Crusaders crush Panthers

COLBERT, Wash. — Asotin fell to Northeast 2B foe Liberty Christian of Colbert in three sets.

The scoreline read 25-14, 25-11, 25-9.

Kylee Aldous and Izzy Dougan led the Panthers in kills with three. Kelsey Thummel added 11 digs for Asotin (2-1, 0-1).

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER

Clarkston 3, Pullman 2

Sienna Newhouse and Rebecca Skinner spearheaded a 3-0 opening half for Clarkston before visiting Pullman made a late rally that came up just short in both teams’ 2A Greater Spokane League season opener.

The Bantams (4-1-1, 1-0) got on the board early courtesy of Newhouse off an assist from Emma Aceveda. Newhouse would assist Skinner on the first of two goals that came in close succession to establish a convincing lead heading into intermission. Keely Franklin finally put Pullman (1-4, 0-1) on the board off a penalty kick in the 58th minute and Sidney Johnson followed up with another Greyhound score, but it proved too little too late in the end.

Lola Johns connected off a penalty kick for Moscow (6-2-1, 2-1) before Elli Rainer extended the lead with an assist from Kaylee Wood.

WSU ties for sixth at Husky Invite

BREMERTON, Wash. — Washington State finished tied for sixth place at the Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain-Olympic Golf Course.

The Cougars amassed a team score of a 3-under 861 — 37 strokes behind first-place University of Washington.

The highest-placing WSU golfer was Sam Renner, who tied for 11th with an overall score of 3-under 213.

WSU eighth at Leadership and Golf Invite

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Washington State took eighth in team competition at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course.

WSU finished with a total score of 26-over 890 — nine strokes behind seventh-place University of Washington and 53 strokes behind first-place Southern California.

The top Cougar golfer was Madelyn Gamble, who tied for 10th with a par total of 216.
