KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After having both teams finish in the top 10 at Nationals, the Lewis-Clark State cross country program will open its 2015 campaigns with a pair of top-10 rankings, as announced in the preseason NAIA polls released Wednesday.
The Warrior women, who took second last year at the national championship meet in Lawrence, Kan., are ranked third, while the men, who finished 10th, are ranked seventh.
"This is pretty awesome," said Warriors coach Mike Collins who begins his 19th season at L-C.
"Any time our program is getting positive press and teams are being recognized for their hard work, it's a good thing."
The Warriors will open their season on Tuesday at the Washington State Invitational in Colfax.
Last season's runner-up, Southern Oregon, claimed the top spot in the men's preseason poll. Christian (Ore.) occupied the top spot in the women's poll.
