Records: Idaho 15-15, Utah State 18-12

Players: Krissy Karr (4,7 ppg), a sophomore guard who has been upstaged this year by freshman teammates, canned a 6-footer at the buzzer to give Idaho a 57-55 win over San Jose State in the quarterfinals Wednesday. It's not a good sign for the Vandals that standout forward Alyssa Charlston (13.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg) has been held to a combined 5-for-16 shooting and 13 points the past two games. For Utah State, guard Devyn Christensen (18.3 ppg) of Caldwell, Idaho, is a first-team All-WAC honoree, and guard Jennifer Schlott collected 21 points and eight assists in a 78-65 quarterfinal win over Denver.

Game themes: The third-seeded Vandals, who gave up 13 offensive rebounds to San Jose State in the quarters, will need a stauncher inside presence against the No. 2 Aggies, who clobbered Idaho 81-50 at Logan, Utah, to cap a 2-0 showing against that team in the regular season. In any case, it's a distinct accomplishment for the young Vandals to reach the league semis for the second straight year, especially considering their 1-6 start to the season. In the other semifinal today, No. 1 Seattle plays No. 5 Louisiana Tech at 2:30 p.m.
