MOSCOW - In the third quarter of his most recent outing, Jalen Kirk didn't miss.
Not from outside the arc, where the senior boys' basketball player went 5 for 5.
Not inside, either.
Deary's star scored 20 of his game-high 27 points in the third period of his team's Whitepine League Division II win over Logos on Tuesday.
The final score was 60-23.
"I actually had a sub going for him (in the third)," Deary coach Kendrick Jared said of Kirk, "but (I) realized we better keep him in.
"I knew he was pretty hot, (but) I didn't realize he was 100 percent (in the third period)."
Kirk, who didn't play in the fourth, earned a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.
Jared also lauded the defensive efforts of Deary's Colten Heath, Parker Johnston and James Loyd, high-energy players who "don't get a lot of glory," but were nonetheless important in helping their team start its season 3-0 overall.

RICHLAND, Wash. - Richland rained in shots from all over the court, including 11 buckets from 3-point range, and raced to a nonleague blowout of Lewiston.
The Bombers, who placed fifth in last year's Washington Class 4A tournament, "returned everybody" from last season, Bengals coach Jayson Ulrich said.
"That is the best high school basketball team I have ever seen," he added. "It's hard to even compare."
Lewiston (2-2) was outscored 29-6 in the first quarter and wasn't able to rally. The Bengals showed some grit, Urlich said, but they had trouble knocking down shots.
Meanwhile, the Bombers got 22 points from Cole Northrop, who canned six 3-pointers, and 18 from Riley Sorn, who stands 7-foot-3. Garrett Streufert also scored 18 and Ryan Wagar added 13.
Donaven Santana paced the Bengals with 12 points.
