Bengal track athlete eyes trip to Australian meet
Jace Whitney, a senior sprinter on the Lewiston High track team, is trying to raise money to attend an international meet this summer in Australia.
Whitney, who placed eighth at 400 meters in the 5A segment of the Idaho state meet last spring, is among several area qualifiers for the 13th annual Down Under International Games on July 5-7 at Gold Coast, Australia. He is the only Lewiston track athlete who intends to participate in the multi-sport program.
He has a personal record of 50.83 seconds for the 400 and also competes in relays.
Anyone wishing to donate to Whitney's cause may do so through www.downundersports.com.
