ASOTIN - The Asotin High baseball team overcame a two-run deficit in the sixth inning when the Panthers scored three runs to overtake Potlatch and claim a 5-4 nonleague win Friday.
"It was a good test for us," Asotin coach Jim Holman said of his team's contest against the two-time defending Idaho Class 1A champ. "We were down and our guys showed some resilience."
Asotin pitchers Seth Morton and Erik Loseth limited Potlatch to five hits. Morton tallied seven strikeouts.
Offensively, Beau Magnuson finished with two hits and two RBI to pace the Panthers.

Orofino 3-9, Bonners Ferry 1-4
OROFINO - The Maniacs continued their hot start to the season, sweeping Bonners Ferry in a doubleheader behind two strong outings from pitchers Scotty Lee and Josh Walker.
In the first game, Lee fought out of a couple of jams en route to a complete-game one-hitter.
"It was another good showing," Orofino coach Jeff Wilson said. "He didn't have the control this time, but he had to grind this weekend. His toughness is so much better this year."
Lee was helped by an Orofino offense that despite missing opportunities to put away the game early, eventually did enough to overcome its relative lack of situational hitting.
Lee finished with 12 strikeouts and issued six walks.
In game two, it was Walker who shined on the hill for the Maniacs.
Starting just his second game as a varsity pitcher, Walker, a sophomore, went seven strong and gave up one earned run on three hits. He also fanned 15 while walking three.
At the dish, Orofino leadoff man Walker Reggear went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
"He was definitely the catalyst in game two," Wilson said of Reggear's showing at the plate.
Orofino closes out the three-game set with Bonners Ferry with a contest today at 11 a.m.
