SPOKANE -- Clarkston sprang out of a third-quarter hole on the strength of Alicia Jelinek's long-range shooting, and the Bantams overtook East Valley 63-51 in a Greater Spokane League girls' basketball game Tuesday night.
Jelinek, the oft-injured sophomore guard, had 15 points -- all coming in the second half and all on 3-pointers.
"This is the first time she's been full strength in quite a while," Clarkston coach Len Kelly said of Jelinek, who has been plagued by ankle and hip problems.
Abby Johnson had 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting for the Bantams, who trailed by nine midway into the third quarter.
Clarkston which led by three points heading into the fourth period, outscored East Valley 18-9 over the final eight minutes.
Johnson added nine rebounds and Jelinek five assists for the Bantams.

SPOKANE -- With its season on the line, Colfax conjured up its most convincing win of the season, throttling Liberty of Spangle in the first round of the Washington Class 1A District 7 tournament.
Eleven Bulldogs scored, including Angie Dennison with 14 points -- all coming in the fourth quarter -- as Colfax moves into the tournament's double-elimination portion, facing Freeman of Rockford on Friday at 5 p.m. at Mead High.
The Bulldogs, who tied Freeman and Lind-Ritzville for the Northeast A League title, ended up with third district seed due to the tiebreaking procedure. That put them into a loser-out game against sixth-seeded Liberty.
The Bulldogs dished out 20 assists and nabbed as many steals.

Pomeroy's McKinzie Therrian hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points. The Pirates scored 26 points in the third quarter.
