Chris Kissock picked up his eighth victory and Beau Mills continued his productive ways, driving in two runs, as Lewis-Clark State capped a nine-game homestand with a 9-2 victory over Dixie State on

Saturday at Harris Field.

Kissock (8-0) allowed two runs and six hits over a seven-inning start, striking out two and walking as many. The junior right-hander now has 23 career victories, moving him into a tie for ninth on L-C's

all-time list.

In comparison to the previous two games against Dixie State, Mills was held relatively in check, managing just one hit. That, however, was a two-run single in the Warriors' three-run eighth and pushed the junior transfer's hitting streak to 13 games.

Mills put up 11 RBI in the series, giving him a team-leading 64.

Mark Thompson and Jessie Mier added two RBI apiece for the top-ranked Warriors, who are 31-3 after an 8-1 showing over the past nine days.

Dixie State, an NCAA Division II team from St. George, Utah, that arrived in Lewiston on an eight-game winning streak, is now 18-14.

L-C got on the board in the third inning with RBI singles from Mier and Kyle Greene, then added three in the fourth via Thompson's two-run double and a RBI single by Brent Wyatt, who extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Saturday, however, marked the first time in 10 games Wyatt failed to get at least two hits.

Kyle Melton's sacrifice fly in the seventh closed the book on Dixie State starter Chad Povich (5-4), who surrendered seven of L-C's 11 hits.

Mier started the Warriors' eighth-inning scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Mark Rose led off Dixie State sixth with a home run to left-center field, and the Rebels got their other run in the seventh.

Dixie State started the game with two singles, and Kissock plunked Kyle Pratt to load the bases with none out. Kissock, however, escaped the jam by coaxing two popups and getting a strikeout.

The Warriors take to the road next weekend for a four-game NAIA Region I series against Concordia.
