The Lewis-Clark State men capped their nonconference basketball season Saturday with their second straight cremation of Prairie Bible College, connecting on a blistering 62.3 percent of their field goals.

The Warriors' 109-56 victory was their eighth straight. They had also beat the team from Three Hills, Alberta, 116-58 on Friday.

In the previous game, guard Joey Ray buried 7 of 7 attempts from 3-point range. So in the rematch, the Pilots used a box-and-one scheme to keep tabs of him.

The Warriors had a feeling they'd see that defense, so they worked on it during their morning shootaround.

With PBC occupied by the perimeter, L-C's inside players ran wild. Martin Brothers, a backup forward, registered a team-best 17 points. The Warriors also got contributions from starting forwards Jared Tikker (12 points) and Dustin Endsley (10).

LCSC coach George Pfeifer acknowledged that PBC isn't near the caliber of the Frontier Conference clubs his team will face. But the Pilots did provide the Warriors with a sparring partner.

"(The box-and-one) is something we'll probably see some of this season," Pfeifer said. "Now we've got live game footage of it, and we can study that. You can't ask for a better deal."

The Warriors' balanced stat sheet also had Danny Ball scoring 13 points, Ricky Frazier registering 10 points and seven assists, and James Idoko gathering eight points and seven boards.

And despite the Pilots' tactics, L-C buried 8 of 14 tries from deep. Ray scored eight points, hitting 2 of 4 from 3.

LCSC enters FC play with a 16-2 mark and the NAIA's 17th ranking. While nine of the Warriors' victories were "no-brainers" over Canadian visitors, Pfeifer said, they also registered impressive triumphs over Evergreen State, Pacific Lutheran and Oregon Tech.

"We're a heck of a lot farther along than just before Halloween," Pfeifer said. "We have 5-by-7 cards with literally 40-some (plays) on them. That's something we didn't have at the start of this season."
