Pitchers Johnny Rake and Zane Hobart both crafted impressive complete-game performances to lead the Lewis-Clark Cubs to a sweep of Orofino in American Legion baseball play Tuesday.

L-C won 8-2 and 12-2 in the North Idaho A League tilt at Harris Field.

Rake took a perfect game into the fifth, then lost it on an error. He ended up allowing four hits, but only one of them was "legitimate," Cubs coach Justin Miller said.

Rake finished with 13 strikeouts and walked one.

"He was pumped up and ready to go," Miller said of Rake. "That's the best I've seen him throw in two years."

Jason McMinn got the Cubs going with a three-run home run in the second. That's L-C's first homer this season.

In the second game, Hobart didn't allow a hit until the fourth. Orofino managed just two knocks in the six-inning game.

Hobart notched five strikeouts, hit two batters and walked one.

John Rogers drove in three runs for the Cubs while Kasey Knigge invoked the 10-run rule with an RBI single in the sixth.

The Cubs improved to 28-7 overall and 11-3 in league.
