> Myah Merino, an incoming freshman on the University of Idaho soccer team, competed this summer with her local club team, Carlsbad (Calif.) Elite, at the United States Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas. Carlsbad won its group in the preliminary stages after taking the national title last year.

> JOEL DAHMEN failed to make the cut in the Digital Alley Open on the Web.com Tour, shooting a second-round 71 at Overland Park, Kan., on Friday for a 139 total, two strokes shy off the cutoff.

> CHRIS WILLIAMS, though, made the cut on the PGA Tour Canada stop at Calgary, Alberta, firing a second-round 69 to put himself 4 over par at 140 at Country Hills Golf Course. He's tied for 39th.
