> JOSH HAWKINSON scored 24 points and freshman MALACHI FLYNN doled out seven assists Saturday night as a Washington State men's basketball team christened its tour of Italy by defeating 2F Sport Management, of Rome, 104-68 in Rome. Flynn scored 13 points while Ike Iroegbu and Robert Franks had 12 each for the Cougars. Iroegbu contributed eight rebounds. WSU plays again Tuesday in Pisa against Selezione Cusground.

> University of Idaho sophomore-to-be Sophie Hausmann won the German International Ladies Amateur Golf Championship with a one-stroke victory over Czechoslovakia's Marie Lunackova. Hausmann, the reigning Big Sky Conference champion and the league's Freshman of the Year, led from start to finish but had to fend off challenges. She finished at 2-under 286 after rounds of 70-71-72-73, with the final two rounds played Saturday. The field of 110 included players from Germany, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Finland, France, Italy, Russia, Belgium and Iceland.

> CHRIS WILLIAMS carded a 70 in the third round of the ATB Financial Classic, giving him a 6-under-par total of 210 and placing him in a tie for 36th heading into the final round today at Country Hills Golf Course in Calgary, Alberta.
