Levi Anderson of Moscow baseball got his season off on the right foot earlier this month, starting as pitcher and gaining credit for the win in a 4-0 no-hitter for the Bears against Timberlake of Spirit Lake.
Another feather was quickly added to the senior’s cap as he was voted the Tribune’s Prep Athlete of the Week.
“We have high expectations for ourselves, and he’s just kind of leading that charge,” Moscow coach Griffin Rod said. “He’s a great kid ... Our ace for sure. A guy we expect a lot of out of, but only because he’s put the work in to have earned that opportunity.”
This was the left-hander’s second time garnering Prep Athlete of the Week honors — the first having come when he pitched a no-hitter against Sandpoint last April.
To go along with his prowess as a pitcher, Rod described Anderson as a “really good hitter” and an “elite-level first baseman.”
“He’s just a guy that has sort of become one of our dudes, and watching him grow into that from a young freshman age is incredible,” Rod said. “It’s why coaching is fun.”
Anderson has also played basketball and football for the Bears and competed over the summers in American Legion and travel baseball. He has signed to play for the Yakima Valley College baseball team after graduating from Moscow.
