The driver of a pickup truck that collided head-on April 16 with a semitruck on U.S. Highway 12 about 2 miles east of the Clearwater River Bridge has died from his injuries, the Idaho State Police reported Monday.
The person who died was Barry Nobles, no hometown given, according to Nez Perce County Coroner Joshua Hall.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to a previous report, the collision happened a bit after 7 a.m. when a white Dodge Ram 2500 that was eastbound crossed the centerline and collided with a Kenworth semitruck. The crash happened near milepost 17 along the Clearwater River, about 15 miles east of Lewiston.
The driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital via air ambulance; the driver of the Kenworth was taken via ground ambulance.
A 6-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 12, from its intersection with Idaho State Highway 3 to its intersection with Cherry Lane Bridge, was fully closed for about two hours. Traffic was limited to one lane later in the day.
