AHSAHKA — The regional cold snap will lead to increased flow exiting Dworshak Dam Wednesday as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers looks to boost power supplies by pushing more water through electricity generating turbines there.
Starting between 4 and 5 a.m., flow will increase from about 1,400 cubic feet per second and eventually reach 5,500 cfs later Wednesday where it is expected to remain through Friday.
The increased flow is expected to raise the water depth near the confluence of the Clearwater River and its North Fork by about two feet. Corps officials advise boaters and other people using the rivers and the reservoir above the dam to be alert to changes in flow and depth.
